Yip Man is one of the most influential martial artists to ever teach Wing Chun Kung Fu. He was the first man to openly teach Wing Chun to the public, as opposed to the previous method of choosing only a handful of students to teach. Because he was so open to new students, people greatly interested in Kung Fu could learn without having to prove themselves and it payed off. Bruce Lee was a student of Yip Man and based his entire philosophy of martial arts from Yip Man’s teachings.
One hour rough draft:
Semi-final product, sans background yin yang
Final copy:
I picked S because I thought it would be more versatile, but my images quickly got cluttered, so I had to adjust my size and use multiple S’ to get a good image.
I like this one the most because I think it resembles a bat or a little devil man. It’s pretty sweet.I almost picked the one at the very bottom left, but it looks like a very pretty Nazi swastika, so I decided against it…
I volunteer for a group called the Global Water Brigade that deals with building and repairing irrigation systems to under privileged communities. The Water Brigades work with several other brigades, like the Global Medical Brigade and the Public Health Brigade, so I formed the logo as an environmental trinity bringing better health to the world. Individually they have a logo, but I figured I could make a unified logo for the three.
The official logo of the brigades looks like this:
So I spliced the two logos together just to see if it would add to the design or detract from it. I definitely think it helps to fill the gaping void in the center of the triangle, but that’s not to say something else couldn’t be put there to combat legal issues =P
To give dimension to the shape, I decided to add shades of gray to show highlights and shadows, as well as keepong the image from looking bland and empty.
I then added color to the bare frame, just to see what I thought of the image as a stand alone logo.
The triangle by itself is a functioning logo that can be applied to any environmental agency and the void in the center can be filled with an emblem, the organization’s name, an image, or another simple design to properly fit the organization.
